LOOKBOOK : Amal Al Mulla

PHOTOGRAPHER'S NOTE

The first time we set eyes on the collection was during the Graduate Fashion Show at the Royal University for Women (Bahrain), a fast emerging incubator for the region's hottest fashion talent.

Love at first sight indeed. Amongst the designers who graduated from the fashion design school at the University, Bahraini based Amal AlMulla’s designs were the strongest and most consistent. She sticked to her core concept and delivered it flawlessly.

This was a collection most photographers such as me would be thrilled to shoot. I sit with Maha Al Mulla, sister and co-founder of the fashion label, and we proceeded to prep up for a fabulous shoot ahead for the F/W 2012 collection!

Seeing and feeling the collection in its physical form was another treat altogether. The prints and textures were such sheer pleasure to the senses. Tailored to perfection, the details were impeccable. One my personal favorites was a ‘tuxedo structured blazer’.

The collection, I must say, was made out of love. Check out the lookbook I shot!

Remembering Anna Piaggi

She was the first Anna..
She came before Anna Wintour and Anna Dello Russo..
She was gaga over fashion before there was [a] Lady Gaga..
The colored hair [probably] came before there was a Perry, a Rihanna or a Minaj..

Remembering the countless, fearless looks of the one and only..
ANNA PIAGGI..

With our favorite Bryanboy and Anna Dello Russo..

Captured by The Sartorialist..

She was a front row royalty..
Karl Lagerfeld and her muse..

You're truly an inspiration for all of us Anna..
You've showed us that fashion is for everyone, young and old..
and that it can only go forward..

Fashion at the Olympics

What do you do when you're bored?

For us, we consult Mr. Google..

Since its another Ramadan weekend..
We decided to cooperate with it and stay indoors..
plus the fact that we had a long week all tied up with the
launching of the www.fashlink.com E-shop..
We decided to stay in bed with our laptops..

and so we googled!
and googled..
and since we are hungry for fashion..
(all the time)
AND!
since the world is on London and the Olympics, we decided
to google the hottest fashion trends going on..

AND VIOLA!
Nail art was on the top of the list!

Why not?
It has made a come back a few months ago..
and now its taking a huge leap at the Olympics..

From day one when they lit the Olympic torch until today,
nail art of flags, the Olympic rings, of London and other olympic related activities
can be seen..
To name a few, we spotted Dana Vollmer and Rebecca Adlington of team GB,
USA's Venus Williams and Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki sporting the nail art..

We heard the woman behind this hot trend is Sophy Robson..
Together with her Nail Porn team, they have been painting the Union Jack
on many of the Team GB's nails and athletes from other countries too..

AMAZEBALLS!

FANTASTIC!!!

Our fashion curiosity didnt just end with that..
We stumbled upon a photo that gave us a link to a

WEEE!!!
CHECK IT OUT!
Its not yet too late..

FASH ATTENDANCE : Sunset Mall Pop Up Bazaar

Anybody who came to check out the Bazaar in Sunset Mall..
hands up!!!

We made it to the last day of the bazaar..
It was amaaaazing!!!

A room full of talented and fashionable people,
colorful clothes, spiky and glittery accessories, perfume..
basically everything and anything fancy..
again it was amazing!!!

We were hopping in awe from table to table..

First stop was Fortheloveof who shared tables with accessories and bags By Lisa..

The table is, I think, the most colorful one..
Neons are just popping out, screaming our names silently..
(My attention was particularly drawn to the neon
envelop hand bags with embellished skulls..)

Since we were in the mood for neons..
(who can resist neons anyways?)
We hopped to the next stall by NEON EDGE DUBAI..

so many neon stuff to choose from..

But what caught our eyes from the sea of neons is this cupcake printed head turner..

Then we stumbled upon The Ahlis..
The busiest pop up shop in the room..
Even if they sold out people were still checking their stuff out..
who could resist those vibrant colors and detailed prints..
DEFINITELY HOT and IN DEMAND..
LIKE PANCAKES.. :p

The round is not over yet..

Next stop was over at FMM by Fatma Al Mulla..

We were eying the embellished bags in particular..
Loads of quirky options in this table..
from t-shirts to notebooks to accessories..
and check out the C-THRU Hermes-inspired bags..
They are the first one to sell out..

Then on to Joya Jewelry by Bassmah Khoja..

We love this corner too..
Their accessories are very yummy..
The look like candies..
(again we see neons.. its the hot thing still)

care for some skulls and pastels?
we dont mind!

The designer was as sweet as her candy-like collection..

Then there was this corner..
AHHHLELUIA!!!
MAMA MIA!!!

We were in heaven..
(but we tried our best to be as calm as possible)
Everything was there..
The neons, the spikes..
The golds, the pastels..

It was a pile of gold.. absolutely amazing..
the photos speak for itself i guess..
(details of the fashion collectors will be revealed in an update.. we apologize..)

Check out the rest of our fab finds..

For the Le petite fashionistas out there
Dana Zaki of Ooh La La Baby Couture has prepared
a wide range of baby couture for you to choose from..
just point it to mommy, even she will go gaga over them..

For those of you who missed the Bazaar, we hope this post serves
as a lesson for you not to miss it again..
HAHAHA..

To the participants..
You talented people..
CONGRATS!!!
We heard everybody sold out..

THANK YOU Eventra for such amazing gathering of talents..

TILL THE NEXT BAZAAR..
(which is later at O-CONCEPT)

See you..

NOTE : We apologize for the late post..
We got busy with the launching of the E-shop..
